Gifted and Talented Education (GATE)

The Woodside School District is committed to providing our highest ability students with programs designed to meet their special needs for breadth and depth of content investigation as well as support in the affective domain. In addition to rigorous CORE curricula, students in grades K-4 experience a rich fine arts program with art and music. Students in grades 5-8 take regular Spanish classes in addition to art and music. All students may elect to participate in extracurricular choirs and/or Jazz band.

Woodside School's Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) philosophy is to assist teachers in their efforts to provide a stimulating and academically rigorous education to all students, including gifted and talented students. All students deserve the opportunity to achieve their highest potential, develop their creativity, and pursue their natural love of learning.

Woodside enjoys an active PTA that also brings after school enrichment programs to campus throughout the year, in addition to special selections for early-release conference days. Past classes have included hip-hop dance, chess, robotics, art, and creative writing.

All parents are invited to be part of our GATE committee, which is a subgroup of the School Site Council.

For Committee Meeting Dates, please view the school master calendar, e-Bulletin or see the link on the left for meeting dates, minutes, and agendas.
