I grew up in the Central Valley before earning my B.A. in English Literature from UC Santa Cruz. From there, I went on to attain my single subject English teaching credential from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I then earned my M.A. in Literature from San Francisco state.
I have been teaching middle school English and social studies for over ten years now. I love working at Woodside and being a wildcat! This year I am excited to be teaching 7th and 8th grade ELA and 6th grade social studies. I look forward to seeing all my students again and watching them thrive.
When I’m not in my classroom, I love spending time with my family and friends, traveling, and trying out new restaurants around the Bay Area. Currently, I live in Moss Beach with my husband, daughter, and shiba inu.
My Philosophy As a teacher I am committed to ensuring that each and every one of my students is successful. The way I measure student success is not only by looking at their academic achievement, but also taking into consideration their ability to effectively collaborate with their classmates, and their social-emotional growth as individuals. In order to facilitate my students’ fulfillment of these different aspects, I focus on building a strong rapport with my students and fostering a safe learning environment.
Students should always feel welcome at any point throughout the year to come to me with any questions or concerns. My door is always open and I will do whatever it takes to help all of my students succeed. I am looking forward to another great year!
